Last month I took a couple days off to go to Gatlinburg, Tennessee with my mom. We had been planning the trip since last summer I believe… maybe fall.. it has been planned for awhile. We stayed at the gorgeous BearSkin Lodge. It was tucked away a little bit from the main drag which was great. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to in town. We spent most of our time in the Arts and Crafts community area that is a little further outside of town. I got an amazing Crystalline Vase from a potter. Those are my favorite vases and I usually grab one when I am in North Carolina every July. I also got some wooden fruit which is a whole other blog post waiting to happen.

I was able to get my mom to go up the little space needle they had there and got some cool shots at night time and then again during the day. YAY!

I could take pictures of the mountains all day! Next, we drove up on the trail through old Gatlinburg. We saw a black bear!! The next picture has the black bear in it.. Can you see it? Yeah.. he is hiding pretty good. Right after we stopped the car and I got out with the camera he went behind a bunch of trees.

I know it has been forever since I have posted! I have been so busy this summer with weddings, engagements, parties, birthday parties, vacations, puppy, cook outs… the list goes on and on!

Here is a small recap of what has been going on so far. I promise that within the next couple of days I will get this blog mostly caught up. Full blog posts for everything like always. I just figured you guys might all like to see a general recap of some of my favorite pictures from the summer thus far. There are still several weddings and engagement sessions that I am still edited and did not make this recap – don’t worry – they will be coming soon!

Hello everyone! I hope you all are having a great holiday season. I have had my sister, brother in law and nephew visiting for the past couple of days from Arkansas so that is a good thing… many pictures of my little nephew opening packages on Christmas morning. He has gotten so big! He is only 4 months old right now but he has changed so much since I last saw him in September. They are leaving on Tuesday so that is when all the festivities stop for us – they will be passing through Ohio though in January so I should get my little fix of him then.

I have a ton of new pictures to post on here and I hope I can get to them this week. I have been busy shooting engagement sessions and editing those – as well as shooting pictures of my adorable nephew… so don’t worry many new pictures will soon be up! I can’t wait to show them all to you guys. The past 3 couples that I have had sessions with have all been great – lots of fun, and all of them braving the lovely Ohio winter weather. One couple and I even did our session on the coldest day of the year so far and without coats for part of it. Yikes! On the weather channel that night they were talking about people being outside for longer than 15 minutes getting frost bite – that is scary! We were only out for about 5 minutes and even that was brutally cold.. we got great pictures though so props to them! They are troopers, as are all my couples that went out in the weather with me. I can’t wait to finish up all the photos and get them up here – y’all are going to love them!

I was also in Florida for a a week in December with my family which was great – I will see if I can get some of those photos up here as well. I will warn you now though they were taken with my little point and shoot camera!

Hope the rest of your holiday season is good and that you have an amazing New Years… I’m still working on my new years resolution. I think it is to start training for a 10k and train hard for it! I have done 5k’s now over the past 2 years and I love them.. so its time to challenge myself more and work for that 10k! ooo… I wonder which one I will sign up for – I will let you guys know once I pick one!

Back from the outer banks, NC

I just got back from the outer banks the other evening – just in time to watch the OSU vs USC game. That was an ugly game…

Back to the good stuff! The beach was great – we had great weather the entire time we were down there. We had a little rain on Wednesday when we arrived but other than that it was great. My friend Beau and I went down there just for a couple of days to hang out since neither one of us had ever been to the outerbanks and he even lived in NC for awhile! We went to Jockey Ridge state park the first evening there – that place is amazing. I highly suggest you go there if you ever want to see a cool state park. It was just hills of sand dunes! It was amazing.

We ate at the Bass Cedar house and Millers on the waterfront – both are along the sound near Roanoke island. Both of them had amazing seafood – Bass cedar house had great swordfish and from what I can gather they might be an organic restaurant - not for sure on that though.. They did make a point to mention fresh local seafood, and free range chicken with no antibiotics.. so who knows..

Millers on the waterfront was great – it was a cute little place that had a nice view of the sunset over the sound. Their mahi mahi was amazing.. I’m not much of a seafood fan but this was good. They had little hush puppies that were to die for as well!

Cape Hatteras was amazing.. the lighthouses at Bodie island and Cape Hatteras were great. I loved the national seashore that runs from nags head down to the cape. They are the best beaches down there - almost no people within eyesight, no condos or houses/hotels.. its literally just you and the beach. I loved it – brought back some amazing shells and driftwood! I’m really excited about the driftwood.

The place we stayed in was great as well – it was a little family run motel that had condo like apartments. We got a great deal on the place we stayed in and it was literally right across the road from the beach. If you have ever been down to the outer banks then you know the little beach road that is there and hardly anyone drives on it so there isn’t a ton of noise. I could sit on either the back deck of our condo or the front porch and hear/see the ocean. Very nice! The place is the Sea Kove in Kitty Hawk, NC

Alright, well I need to start doing some work so I will post a few pictures that I play around with last night.
