Zanesville Ohio Wedding photographer | Zanesville Ohio Wedding : Jason and Kaity

Kaity and Jason were married in September in Zanesville, Ohio at the EagleSticks Golf Club.   I had been looking forward to their wedding for a crazy long time!  We did their engagement session in Wilmington Ohio earlier in the year.  You can check out the gorgeous pictures from their engagement session here.

I arrived at Eaglesticks early in the day to photograph all of the getting ready with the girls.  Kaity and her siblings were running around the reception area setting up the last minute details for the tables and the wedding.  Kaity thought of everything when it came to the details for her day with Jason.  Jason and Kaity share a love of boating and wanted to incorporate that love into the details of their wedding day to make it more personalized.  Jason had a boat for his grooms cake.  All of the tables had boats on it with certain maritime nautical flags on them.    The guests found their seats based on what flat they were under that corresponded with the table.   At all the tables were glass bottles, paper and pens to write special love letters to Kaity and Jason.  I loved the message in a bottle!  Their cake had hints of nautical themes on it with shells and white icing.    I will let you look at the pictures before I keep on describing everything that Kaity and Jason did!  I could go on for paragraphs about everything!!

Kaity looked gorgeous in her wedding gown and all of her bridesmaids were gorgeous as well.  She got matching shoes for all of them and the flower girls had matching red glitter toms! LOVE!  The day was warm and windy!  Jason had a couple moments of Kaity’s veil coming after him during the ceremony which made it even more fun!

One of the more unique things that they did at their wedding that I had not seen at any others was the lanterns.  Towards the end of the evening all of the guests picked up one of the chinese lanterns.  Luckily the wind had died down by this time of night otherwise everyone might not have been able to do the lanterns!  Everyone lit the lanterns around the same time and watched as they flew away.  It was gorgeous!  A warning about the lanterns – They do involve fire  - if you plan on using them make sure you clear it with the venue and anyone else that needs to know before releasing these.  It is best to do them in open spaces clear of trees and buildings.  Also, be careful with small children and make sure you are aware of any lanterns that are around you that may be lifting off near you.  The lanterns are awesome if the right precautions are taken to make everyone and everything safe!!

I hope you enjoy looking at their wedding as much as I enjoyed photographing their special day!

Easter Fun | Columbus Ohio Wedding Photographer

Easter Day Fun with Columbus Ohio wedding photographer Krista Piper

I hope everyone had an amazing Easter weekend!  We had a blast over here!  We all started Saturday morning with an easter brunch with my sister and nephews at the Messiah Lutheren church.  We  said hello to the Easter bunny – Ethan was terrified of the bunny. Literally scared.  Andrew was a bit shy to – the bunny kind of had some creepy eyes going on.   I was holding Ethan and once Andrew was done with the bunny Ethan was clinging for dear life and trying to escape the room.  I think he thought he was going to be next!

After the bunny we headed downstairs to do some crafts.  Andrew and Ethan decorated an easter basket, made some butterflies, decorated a foam easter egg with stickers and then took a brown bag bunny puppet kit home for later.  The bunny puppets were a hot item and the room was a little crowded since it was so popular. It was super cute!   After all the fun crafts we listened to the Easter story and then headed outside for the Easter egg hunt!

We then left the church and headed up to my parents house for the rest of the Easter celebrations.  We had lots of snacks to munch on while everyone was hanging out.  Then we started on the baskets and the boys did very well for themselves. They got lots of yummy treats, some summer outfits and toys.  I got lots of Peeps!!  I have a small obsession with peeps.   Once the baskets were done we headed outside to find some Easter eggs.  Andrew was an egg hoarding bandit.  He figured out that it was much easier to leave his basket in one spot and run around the yard to gather as many as he could hold in his hands then dump them all into the basket.  He got TONS more eggs then Ethan does – Ethan was a bit slower on figuring out how to do the Easter eggs.  Towards the end he did follow his brothers lead by leaving his basket in one spot and collecting eggs to drop into the basket once his hands were full!

We all came inside after the hunt to grab some more food then head back outside to enjoy the spring sun!  Later on we ate an early dinner and had some bunny cake that I made!  I enjoy trying to bake!

Enjoy some pictures from the day!

Bentley really wanted to partake in all the action that was going on outside

Notice the strung eggs?  My mom and I went to Frankenmuth Michigan a week or so ago and we saw all these cute decorations done with eggs that were strung on fish wire.  So… guess what we did when we got home!  My mom strung these for her door and then I strung some for around my light post!

My awesome baking. Yep. I rock at baking… but I think I will keep photography and not become a baker!

Egg hunt fun in Lancaster Ohio – Megahunt put on by Crossroads.tv | Columbus ohio wedding photographer

Egg Hunt in Lancaster Ohio – 25,000 Megahunt put on by Crossroads.tv  photographed by columbus ohio wedding photographer

Easter Egg Hunts are always a blast this time of year.  I was driving around town and saw a sign that said 25,000 eggs in an egg hunt.  I was like what!? 25,000 eggs!! That is an INSANE amount of eggs.  I called up my sister right away to see if she wanted to bring Andrew and Ethan down for the egg hunt. I figured with 25,000 eggs they are bound to at least get 10 eggs right?  Zac is currently deployed so I knew Heather would be looking for things to do with the kids to keep them busy while he is away!

We set up a time to meet on Saturday, called my mom to join in on the fun and all met down there around 10:30ish at Miler Park where the egg hunt was being held.   Driving down 33 you could see the volunteers from Crossroads putting out easter eggs and setting everything up.  They had 3 different egg hunts that went off at different times.  a 1-3 level, 4- 7 I believe and then 8 and above.  I know Ethan was in the first grouping since he is only 2 and Andrew coming in at 4 was in the second group.     Each egg hunt area was caution taped off so that it was semi organized – until the air horn went off and then it was like a fish frenzy to get to the eggs!

They had a couple of other activities set up besides the egg hunt – face painting, 2 bounce houses, a blow up basketball shooting area, live animals including horses, cow, some goats!  It was pretty interesting! Ethan of course wanted to play basketball and Andrew ended up going in one of the bounce houses while we were leaving after the egg hunt.  Ethan attempted to go in the bounce house – he got his little head in there, looked around and decided it was not for him!

It was a blast for a family activity! We will most likely be going back next year to enjoy more of the MegaEgg Hunt!

Fantasy Cupcake by Leah Dotson | Canal Winchester Ohio Bakery

I first heard about Fantasy Cupcake by Leah Dotson from their facebook page.  It’s like hearing it from the grapevine!   I was skimming over my facebook news feed when I saw that my cousin had randomly typed in a number on a comment box for free cupcakes… I was like what is this?! free cupcakes for the correct number guessed?? Oh my goodness!! I was on that in a hot second. I typed in my number and didn’t win:(but that was okay.  It was a fun thing to do and exciting to see if I had won or not.  After I typed in my number on the comment box I checked out their facebook page and their website.  I noticed how yummy and delicious all of the goodies looked!! You can’t help but notice all of the pictures of yummy treats – cupcakes, cookies, cake pops pictures are posted all over their newsfeed.  Some of the pictures they have taken and lots from happy customers!   I then noticed that they do weddings!! Ding ding! I have to let all of my couples know about them!!  I have tons of couples now that have switched from the traditional wedding cake to cupcakes and you guys all have to know about this place!

Their main area of business is custom orders and weddings.  Leah opened the store in Canal Winchester just a couple of years ago – the Fantasy Cupcake store is located right in the heart of the historic area of Canal Winchester at 9 south high street Canal Winchester Ohio.   There is street parking right in front of the store and more street parking right across the street.  When I visited the shop I ended up parking across the street and a few short steps later I was on their door step.  Their business hours are  Tuesday – Thursday 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.  Friday and Saturday is 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.  These are their hours as of today March 28th, 2013 –  Make sure you check out their facebook page ,  website , or give them a ring for the current hours.

Everything that they do is baked fresh that day!!  They have signature cupcake flavors that are available every month with special flavors that rotate in every month.   You can get information on all of their signature flavors on their website : http://www.fantasycupcake.com/.  It has detailed information about what each flavor tastes like.  Their monthly special flavors are announced on their facebook page.  Some of their most popular flavors are the Salted Carmel, Birthday and Wedding cupcake flavors.   I had the Cookie Monster cupcake and it was AMAZING.  They have sugar cookies, cake pops, and chocolate chip cookies every day as well.  On Saturday, you can get gluten free cupcakes!  So, if you know you are a fan of gluten free make sure you either place a custom order or come in early on a Saturday to get some!

Fantasy Cupcake is super popular any day of the week – if you are looking for a specific flavor or quantity make sure you call ahead  or place a custom order.  That is the best way to know that the cupcakes you want will be there when you arrive!! They fly off the shelves like… well… delicious, freshly baked, amazing icing cupcakes that they are!

Make sure to head over to their facebook page and Like them to hear about their April flavors and to stay current on all their news!

Here are some pictures of Fantasy Cupcake by Leah Dotson just in case you haven’t stopped in there yet!!
