Engaged: Katie and Ethan, Hocking Hills, Ohio

It has been such a crazy, busy, fun week over here!

I have yet to finish up the blog post for tips for bride from the Akron Bridal show – that will come soon.

In the mean time enjoy the album that is below.  It is of Ethan and Katie’s engagement session from this fall. We went down to Hocking hills and Rose Lake.  Hocking hills is a great place for weddings and I honestly love it down there. I try to go to Hocking Hills as often as possible, plus the fact that I live about 30 minutes away from it is amazing.  I have never been to Rose Lake before – that was a real treat for me to spend the time down there with Ethan and Katie.  They had a tree that Ethan carved their initials into when they got engaged in the woods. I can not wait for their wedding in May – it is going to be so much fun.  They are getting married in Circleville, Ohio.

Enjoy the album – It will be a sample album for a 5×5 Coffee Table Book.  The Coffee Table Book is a new book that I am going to be offering. Check back in a couple weeks for some pictures when I get the album in.

Blissful Brides – Tips for brides

I am so excited to share with all of you Blissful Brides: Tips for Brides!  It has been in the motion for a couple of months now designing the logo, creating the information that I wish to write about, researching and finally starting to post!   Blissful Brides will be coming to you every week on my blog, and will house tips and tricks.

My goal is to gather as much information as possible, to give you tips on how to make your wedding planning easier. The tips will be from all over the place!  I have searched online blogs, magazines, thought of my own ideas, ideas that have come from weddings that I have photographed, bridal shows, etc, it never ends!   I also want to be able to give you the knowledge of items and where they came from, my hopes is that even if you aren’t 100% in love with my idea – it gives you a place to start brainstorming your own idea to come up with something personal for your wedding.

With all the ideas that have items in them ( table decor, favors, floral arrangements, etc)  there will also be an extra paragraph saying how to use it after the wedding.  I think that is very important!  I know that after the weddings you do not want to be stuck with 15 pictures frames with numbers in them that all look a like, or 15 hurricane globes with a million candles.  I will always have a couple of ideas of what you can do after the wedding with the items, so you aren’t stuck putting them in boxes and never using the items again!

Now for all the fun introduction stuff out of the way – stay tuned for my very first post about the Akron Bridal Show that I went to this weekend.  I thought it was the perfect topic to kick Bridal Bliss: Tips for Brides off with!

Enjoy!

Ava’s shoot – Children portraits

During the Fall I was able to work with Jen and Ava to take pictures for Ava’s third birthday.  I got to make a little trip out to Ashley, OH.  Ashley, OH is just north of Polaris where my parents actually live – so it was a hop, skip and jump from them!

We all went out to Jen, Albert, and Ava’s front yard and took some pictures around and then finish up inside drawing and jumping on the bed.  It was so much fun to work with Ava – she is such a cutie!   I can’t wait to work with Jen, Albert and Ava again.  I loved it out in Ashley, OH.  It reminded me a lot of where I live ( Rushville, OH) only its a lot flatter!

Here are some of the images from the session.  There were so many that it is just so hard to pick which one is my favorite!

Isn’t she the cutest!

The last one there might be my favorite – or at least one of them.  For this last one – she looked at me , angled her head just perfectly AND held it long enough for me to stop a couple shots! I just love her.

I hope you enjoyed the images!  Make sure to book your child’s session a couple weeks in advance to make sure you have enough time to gather up all the clothes and accessories!  Also, the further out you book the session the better chance we have of getting a time that works with their moods, nap time and other fun activities that may affect their mood.  We want your child to be as happy as possible when we do the shoot to be able to have the best images.

Thank you!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Merry Christmas Eve!

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas – I hope everyone enjoys all the presents, food, and family tomorrow.  If you are traveling please stay safe!  I was on 70 yesterday coming to my parents house and it was full of crazy drivers.

Here are some pictures of the real snow fall that happened at my house last week.  I took some time to really play with some of the post processing for a bit.  All of my clients will see that in their proofing galleries there is always a folder called ” Artist Favorites”.  This folder houses the images that I feel need to have some extra done to them to really make them pop or convey another emotion.  The first two images I am posting here show the difference in how one image can feel when its in its normal color version verse another color.  These are all snow images ( I will do some with weddings later on), I personally love mixing with the colors of snow scenes just because it usually very contrasting and sometimes uneventful colors.  Don’t get me wrong though – I do love a good straight out of the camera, pure white snow scene – those can be absolutely beautiful… but for the other ones… I love to play with color and really push the image to get a different feel from it.

My hockey light figurine - love the color, but in black and white the smaller hockey figures really stand out.

This next picture is overlooking my fence into the neighbor’s field.  I love having a field right next door – I get the best of both worlds… woods and field!

Original on left - Color toned on right - I love doing brown tones on the white, makes it look older and more antique.

Here is some exciting news – I finally got my Pipers Photography sign up!! Yippie!! I have had my gorgeous cedar mailbox post with the numbers on it sitting in front of my house for, oh, close to 6 months now.  I had to wait a crazy long time to get the actual sign but I am very happy with it.  I got it from The Sign Man down at Myrtle Beach, SC.  I do love to give recommendations and he does residential and commercial signs – BUT - Be prepared to wait double the time that he quotes you for the expected arrival date.  He does great work – but I had to wait 2, almost 3 extra months just to get the sign.  So, If you are looking for a sign for your new home as a couple, or even a sign for your child – he does great work, but be prepared to wait awhile to get your finished product.  He only takes orders in person too – never over the phone.

To finish up the post here are a couple extra snow pictures.  Yes, the one is of my “I love Christmas” sign… and yes… sadly… my pumpkin is that big mound of snow right next to the “I love Christmas” sign.

I Love Christmas, and my poor, poor, pumpkin under all that snow!

Finally,  Anyone want to buy me a snow blower?  :)
